Way back in the late 60s and early 70s, Dave Arlasky owned a Race Shop and he had a problem with exhaust noise in his Dyno room, so he developed a set of mufflers to help quiet down the exhaust noise. To his astonishment, the mufflers increased torque and horsepower on his engines as well as quietened the noise. The design sat for many years until 2001 when he discovered that the high performance exhaust system business was growing extremely fast. After a year and a half of design, engineering and product development Frank filed for patent protection and incorporated API in June of 2003. Through this two-year process Frank continued his market research and came across a patented product called a Venturi tip that complimented the Vortex Expansion Chamber and acquired the patents and intellectual property from Powertone the manufacture of the Venturi Tip. This application is an exhaust tip that acts as a sound dampening device while adding performance to the Expansion Chamber.
API's corporate headquarters opened in January of 2004 and began production of its Zoomers Exhaust Works. Zoomers Exhaust Works product line was introduced in March 2004.
